Karnataka Home Minister K J George has issued fresh guidelines to State police department to step up patrolling during night to ensure safety of people. A list of guidelines has been issued to the DGP, Commissionorates, Range IGPS and SP-level officers across the state.

Mr. George directed the police to ensure the adherence of deadlines by pubs and restaurants and maintain law and order. Cases related to violence against women should be dealt with seriously and FIR booked without delay. Seniors police officers should supervise the cases pertaining to offences against women, Mr. George said.

Separate helpline should be set up at the taluk and district-level by police to redress the issue. He also assured to ensure required funds for additional force required for patrolling in night.
