The Karnataka High Court on Friday ordered notices to the Tamil Nadu Government and the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, on a petition by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa against the order of a Special Court here dismissing her application relating to translation of Tamil documents into English in the disproportionate assets case.
Justice Subash B. Adi, who heard the case, posted the case for Monday.
In her petition, Ms. Jayalalithaa stated that the 36th District and Sessions Court (Special Court) had last week dismissed her application questioning the validity of the translated documents. The translation had not been done properly.
If the Special Court was allowed to go ahead with the disproportionate assets case against her and others, including Sasikala, J. Illavarasi and V.N. Sudhagaran, it would be a travesty of justice.
She said any translation must be accurate and, in this case, it must reflect the true and faithful stage of the trial when it was held in Tamil Nadu.
