The model has been accused of hurting religious sentiments
The High Court of Karnataka on Monday stayed criminal proceedings initiated against model Poonam Pandey by a magistrate court in Bangalore based on a private complaint related to nudity and hurting religious sentiments.
Justice H.N. Nagamohan Das passed the interim order on a petition filed by Ms. Pandey questioning the proceedings pending before the VII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. The magistrate court recently issued a warrant against her after she failed to appear before it despite issuance of summons on many occasions since 2012.
The proceedings were initiated against her based on the complaint filed by S. Umesh. It was claimed in the complaint that Ms. Pandey had issued a statement saying that she had posed nude by standing next to a photo of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and a Hindu deity following India’s cricket World Cup win.
