The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday declined to stay a Uttara Kannada District administration order banning movement of vehicles laden with iron-ore and granite stones in the district.

The Green Bench comprising Justice N. K. Patil and Justice A. S. Bopanna declined to grant the interim injunction sought in a writ petition filed by Bharat Timbers and Construction Company challenging the order passed by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Uttara Kannada on May 17 last and published in the gazette on June 3, 2010, banning the movement of iron-ore and granite stone-laden vehicles.

The ban order was passed by the DC keeping in mind the interest of the public as such heavily laden vehicles would take a toll on national highways causing great inconvenience to the public.
