Karnataka Assembly pays tributes to ANR, Wadiyar

The Legislative Assembly on Thursday condoled the death of six persons, including Kannada writer G.S. Shivarudrappa and Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, scion of the Mysore royal family.

Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa moved the obituary reference and recalled the contributions of Shivarudrappa, Wadiyar, Telugu cinema icon Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Kannada Sugama Sangeeta singer Yashwanth Halibandi and former MLAs Mulka Govinda Reddy and N.A. Channe Gowda.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah noted the achievements of these leaders in their respective fields and said their contributions would always be remembered.

Leader of the Opposition Jagadish Shettar, Y.S.V. Datta of the JD(S), Minister for Revenue V. Srinivas Prasad and B. Sriramulu of the BSR Congress spoke and highlighted the works of the departed leaders.

The Legislative Council also mourned the death of Halibandi and Nageswara Rao. Council Chairman D.H. Shankaramurthy, Minister for Information Technology and Biotechnology S.R. Patil and Leader of the Opposition D.V. Sadananda Gowada recalled the contributions of the singer and actor, respectively.
