Residents of J.P. Nagar were in for a surprise on Sunday.
Jnanpith Award winner Girish Karnad visited several homes and urged residents to vote for the Congress’ Bangalore South candidate Nandan Nilekani in the Lok Sabha polls. He was accompanied by Mr. Nilekani’s wife, Rohini.
According to a press release, residents were ecstatic and expressed their strong support for Mr. Nilekani.
Mr. Rao, a motorist who stopped to meet Ms. Nilekani, said, “I am happy that in my lifetime I can vote for a candidate like Mr. Nilekani. I hope my grandchildren will witness many such clean and capable politicians.”
Mr. Karnad claimed that Bangalore had not had a candidate like Mr. Nilekani before.
“He has created a great company in Infosys, a platform in Aadhaar and brings many skill sets needed to change politics. We must all support him,” he said.
