Hrudaya Vahini, a Mangalore-based daily, and the Kannada Cultural Association, Kenya, will hold a two-day international Kannada Cultural Convention in Nairobi, Kenya, from March 1, 2014 to promote Kannada culture.
Convention committee president K.P. Manjunath Sagar told presspersons here on Monday that the convention would have a variety of literary and cultural events depicting the culture of Kannadigas.
The convention features a poets’ meet, seminar, besides cultural programmes such as Bharatanatyam, folk dance, ballet and Yakshagana. He said that nine such conferences had been held abroad since 2004. “Over 1,000 Kannadigas live in Kenya and we expect a large number of participants for the event. Over 100 delegates from Karnataka and other States will participate,” he said.
