November 28, 2014 01:04 pm | Updated 01:04 pm IST - KALABURAGI:

The CBI Special Court in Bengaluru has granted conditional bail to Kampli MLA T.H. Suresh Babu and 13 others, including the former Ministers Anand Singh and G. Janardhan Reddy, in a case pertaining to the alleged theft of iron ore from the Belikeri Port and illegal export of iron ore.

Mr. Suresh Babu, elected from Kampli in Bellary district, who has been lodged in the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail in Bengaluru since September 2013, is the nephew of BJP MP B. Sriramulu and a close associate of Mr. Janardhan Reddy. Both Mr. Suresh Babu and Mr. Anand Singh were elected to the Assembly on BJP ticket.

Although Mr. Janardhan Reddy and Mr. Anand Singh have been granted bail, they would not be released from prison as a few other cases are pending against them. Among others who obtained bail are Karapudi Mahesh, Swastik Nagaraj, two close aides of Mr. Janardhan Reddy, and N. Muthaiah, former Deputy Conservator of Forests.
