Enagi Balappa to inaugurate cultural festivities to be held from October 5 to 14

Jnanpith Award winner and Kannada writer Chandrashekar Kambar will inaugurate the Mysore Dasara on October 5, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told presspersons here on Saturday.

Theatre personality and Natya Bhusan Enagi Balappa will inaugurate the cultural festivities.

The Chief Minister chaired a high-level meeting with Ministers and MLAs. He released the Dasara logo in the presence of Minister for Revenue and Mysore district in-charge V. Srinivas Prasad, Minister for Public Works H.C. Mahadevappa, Minister for Tourism R.V. Deshpande, Minister of State for Kannada and Culture Umashree, Minister of State for Information and Infrastructure Development Santosh Lad, Mysore Deputy Commissioner C. Shikha, and Mysore MLAs.

Mr. Siddaramaiah said that Rs. 10 crore would be released for the district administration to organise the Dasara festivities from October 5 to 14.

And, the Urban Development Department will release Rs. 5 crore to the Mysore City Corporation for repairing damaged roads and painting important buildings. Department of Tourism and Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation will jointly provide wide publicity to the Dasara festivities. Officials of the departments concerned and elected representatives will be consulted for forming committees for the smooth conduct of the celebrations.

Mr. Siddaramaiah directed the officials concerned to invite world-renowned artistes to perform on the Mysore palace premises during Dasara. The Yuva Dasara, which has not been held for the past three years, will also be organised this year.
