Kalasa Banduri Nala project: dharna planned on April 27

April 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - HUBBALLI:

Members of various organisations led by Kalasa Banduri Nala Horata Samiti will stage a dharna in Bengaluru on April 27 seeking speedy implementation of the Kalasa Banduri Nala project.

Conveners of the samiti Vijay Kulkarni and Vikas Soppin said here on Wednesday that the dharna, to be staged in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on M.G. Road in Bengaluru, was to draw the attention of the Chief Minister towards the long-pending drinking water project.

Mr. Vijay Kulkarni said that as the Chief Minister was planning to take an all-party delegation to the Prime Minister on the Mekedatu project, they wanted him to raise the Kalasa Banduri Nala project also and seek his intervention to clear the hurdles for its completion.

Intervention

Mr. Kulkarni contended that despite the formation of the tribunal, the Prime Minister could intervene to sort out the contentious issues between Goa and Karnataka .

“Our protest on April 27 will be a token protest and we hope the Chief Minister will take note our concerns. Otherwise we will be forced to take the path of intense agitation,” he said.
