After holding a series of events over the last one year to commemorate its 50 years of existence, the Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), a premier technical education institute in Mysuru, will be organising the valedictory of the golden jubilee celebrations on the college premises on March 31.

The golden jubilee began during the academic year 2013-14 with the institution celebrating its evolution and growth through various programmes, including a Global Alumni Meet in December 2013 and a series of international conferences and workshops, besides signing of MoU for collaboration with internationally renowned educational institutions and companies.

The valedictory of the golden jubilee scheduled to be held on Tuesday will be graced by the former President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and a host of other dignitaries, including Minister for Higher Education R.V. Deshpande and JSS Mahavidyapeetha’s patron in Dubai Naseer Al Syed Abdul Razak Al Razooqi, said Pradeep M, co-ordinator, Placement and Training, SJCE, Mysuru.

With a humble beginning in 1963 offering technical education in just three disciplines, he said SJCE has today emerged as a sought-after engineering college not just in Mysuru, but in the entire State, offering 12 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate programmes.

Set up by the 23rd pontiff of Suttur Math Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswami as the first effort of the JSS Mahavidyapeetha to offer technical education, SJCE now has about 5,000 students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes.

Principal of SJCE Shakeeb Ur Rahman claimed that SJCE had been ranked second best engineering college in the State in a recent survey carried out by Edu and Rand.
