B.S. Yeddyurappa, State president of the Bharatiya Janata Party, has expressed displeasure with the State government’s decision to order for a judicial probe into the alleged suicide of Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K. Ganapathy.

The judicial probe is a mere eyewash and the State government is trying to protect the accused, he alleged.

As the names of persons in influential positions are involved in the case, the State government should hand over the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation to bring out the truth, he told presspersons here on Wednesday.

Prior to his death, the officer had told, in an interview to a news channel, that he was being harassed by Minister K.J. George and two senior IPS officers.

Considering the interview as the dying statement, the police should have booked cases against all the three, he said.

Protests are being staged across the State demanding the resignation of Mr. George over the incident.

‘Unfortunate’

It is unfortunate that instead of sacking Mr. George from the Cabinet, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is defending him.

It is apparent that, Mr. Siddaramaiah has failed to discharge his duty in an impartial manner and he should tender his resignation for his post, he said.

A bandh has been called in Kodagu on Thursday demanding an impartial probe into the incident. He pressed the State government to take suitable measures to maintain law and order during the bandh. He said that the BJP would intensify its struggle demanding for a CBI probe into the incident.
