Journalists working with various print and electronic media in Pandavapura taluk staged a protest in front of the Mini Vidhana Soudha in Pandavapura on Tuesday demanding the arrest of people who had allegedly assaulted journalists near Katteri recently.

According to a memorandum submitted to Pandavapura Tahsildar B. Shankaraiah, one Seethapura Kumar and his followers assaulted some journalists on June 26 when they visited Katteri to report news related to an accident.

Though a case was registered in the KRS police station, the accused had not been arrested. The accused persons assaulted Channamade Gowda, Nagasundar and some other journalists, damaged their camera and mobile phones, and threatened them with dire consequences, they alleged.

The agitators condemned the attack on journalists and sought stringent police action against the anti-social elements.
