Over 1,500 candidates were given appointment orders by different companies during the two-day job fair that concluded here on Sunday.

M.K. Somashekar, MLA and chairman of Janaspandana trust, which organised the event along with district administration, said that over 18,000 candidates participated in the job fair.

Apart from the 1,500 candidates who were given appointment orders, 10,400 candidates were selected for different posts and would soon be given appointment letters.

Mr. Somashekar said that over 200 companies took part in the event. He said that a few companies had recruited even undergraduates. He also thanked the software companies, insurance companies, banks and other organisations for participating in the event.

The MLA said that candidates from adjoining districts— Mandya, Chamarajnagar, Kodagu and Hassan— participated in the job fair.
