The first offline Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) to be held by the Central Board of Secondary Education will be conducted on Sunday in Hubli and Mangalore.
The online exam will commence on April 8 and will go on till April 25. Students will take the online test in Bangalore.
The JEE, which replaced the All-India Engineering Entrance Examination, has received a record 14 lakh registrations this year, 2.8 lakh more than 2012.
Students aspiring for admissions to B.E., B.Tech., Architecture and Planning courses at the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Delhi Technological University, and other Centrally funded technical institutes (CFTIs) will be appearing for the JEE Main. Selection for NITs and CFTIs will be based on a specific ranking system — 60 per cent of JEE Main and 40 per cent normalisation score of board.
The IIT-JEE, which has been accordingly replaced by the JEE-Advanced, will be held on June 2. The top 1.5 lakh students of the JEE Main merit list will be eligible for this exam. The ranking for selection to the 16 IITs in the country will be based on JEE-Advanced score but selected students have to be among the top 20 percentile of board concerned.
