The issue of State leadership of the Janata Dal (Secular) will in all probability be resolved by September 3. A core committee of the party, to be formed shortly, will resolve the issue. The party also resolved to fight the Lok Sabha elections on its own strength.
These are some of major decisions taken at the meeting of senior JD(S) leaders in the meeting held in the city on Wednesday. Disclosing this to presspersons here on Wednesday, party supremo H.D. Deve Gowda said a core committee would act as a link between legislators and the party, to bridge the “communication gap” that has caused damage to the party in recent days.
He said the core committee would have representation from all the communities and would be empowered to take decisions independently during a crisis. When asked about the replacement of Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, in view of H.D. Kumaraswamy’s resignation to the coveted post, he said the issue would be discussed in the JD(S) Legislative Party meeting to be held on Thursday. Mr. Gowda also said there was no change in the party’s stand of having “any kind” of tie-up with BJP.
