JD(S) stages protest against delay in road-widening

The district unit of the Janata Dal (Secular) took out a march and submitted a memorandum to the district administration here on Saturday in protest against the delay in the completion of the ongoing master plan project to widen the roads in the city.

In the memorandum, the party said that the district administration and Makbul Bagwan, the MLA representing the city, had failed to get the project completed on time and the residents were facing hardship for nearly three years.

Condemning the slow pace of work, the memorandum alleged that Dr. Bagwan was busy attending functions and celebrations and were not paying attention to the issues of the residents. The memorandum said that the MLA had not held meetings to discuss the status of the project or to ensure its speedy completion.

They accused the district administration of not acting on public grievances on the problems they were facing because of the inordinate delay in the completion of the project.

“The city has turned into a dump yard full of pot holes as the work was under way for long. Pedestrians are finding it difficult to walk on the roads which are in a pathetic shape. The stretch of the road between Basaveshwar Circle and M.G. Circle and other adjoining roads are the worst,” the memorandum said.
