The BJP has decided to field B.N. Prahlad, the late MLA B.N. Vijaykumar’s brother, as its candidate from Jayanagar Assembly constituency, for which elections will be held on June 11.
The elections had been countermanded after Mr. Vijaykumar died of heart attack. The 57-year-old Mr. Prahlad is a long-time associate of the RSS and is presently heading a company that takes up audio and video turnkey projects in south India. Though some of the councillors had opposed his candidature, the BJP leadership decided to go ahead with Mr. Prahlad, perhaps, to capitalise on the sympathy factor.
