Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, T.B. Jayachandra told the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state to first make their stand clear in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa where BJP is ruling regarding Kasturirangan’s report before opposing the report in Karnataka.
After participating in the 66th Republic Day programme held at Mahatma Gandhi stadium here on Monday, speaking to reporters, Mr. Jayachandra said that the report will cover Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa and demanded that BJP should first get the opinion of the state governments where they are in power before opposing the report here.
He alleged that no state where BJP is in power has expressed their stand on Kasturirangan report except Kerala, where BJP is not in power.
Modernisation work of Hemavathi canal from Gorur reservoir in Hassan district will start in the month of March, 2015.
He said there are no hurdles as such in the implementation of Yettinahole project.
Denotification case :
Referring to Governor’s refusal to meet BJP leaders on Arkavathi denotification issue, Mr. Jayachandra said that it shows the hollowness of allegation of BJP in connection with Arkavathi denotification issue.
He said if an inquiry into the denotification issue is conducted, all the chief ministers who were in office from 2006 to 2012 will go to jail.

Mr. Jayachandra said let the leaders of Janata Dal (Secular) should respect the Supreme Court’s order and vacate the office. He said, that they should provide an application for the site to the government.
Illegal detention
Mr. Jayachandra said that he will speak with the Superintendent of Police of Tumakuru regarding the transfer of the police sub-inspector to New Extension Police Station, who was facing charges of illegal detention of an eighth standard student and physically torturing him in Kyatsandra police station.
