Jawali turns his back on BJP

April 11, 2013 01:12 pm | Updated July 10, 2016 02:44 pm IST - GULBARGA:

The Bharatiya Janata Party has taken a second blow in two days. B.G. Jawali, two-time MP, resigned from the primary membership of the party and decided to work for his brother-in-law, Kailash Patil, who is the Congress candidate in Gulbarga South Assembly Constituency.

On Tuesday, three-time MLC Shashil G. Namoshi had protested the party leadership’s decision to admit party hopper Dattatreya Patil Revoor ino the BJP and field him from Gulbarga South Assembly Constituency.

Dr. Jawali is an ENT specialist and son-in-law of the former Chief Minister the late Veerendra Patil, who is still held in high esteem among the majority Lingayat community.

Dr. Jawali said the main reason for his resignation was the “suffocating atmosphere” in the BJP where everything is decided by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). “The Bharatiya Janata Party is remote-controlled by the RSS leadership,” he alleged.
