Speakers at a Jana Paryaya Kattona Jatha organised by the Janandolana Mahamaitri called upon people to keep the Congress, the BJP and the Janata Dal (S) at bay which they said are anti-people and ensure that they don’t come to power in the coming elections.
Accusing the three major political parties of indulging in corruption, pursuing anti-people policies, they underlined the need for the people to chose a people’s alternative to come to power in the next election to protect the interests of the common man.
Ramanjinappa, president of All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO), accused all the three major political parties of serving the interest of the capitalists and corporate houses while betraying the people after coming to power.
Ravi Krishna Reddy of Corruption Free Karnataka lambasted the political parties for fielding candidates who had indulged in corruption, plundering natural resources and had been jailed, in the elections. He blamed the Ballari Reddy brothers for destroying democracy with their ill-gotten wealth amassed by way of illegal mining activities. “Corruption has become rampant in all spheres and the MLAs have failed to raise issues concerning farmers and people during severe drought and other crises, and it is time for the people to think of an alternative to ensure good governance and welfare of the people,” he said.
Earlier, T.G. Vittal, Secretary, Gandhi Bhavan, inaugurated the jatha by beating drums. T.M. Shivakumar, Shivakumar Malagi, Chandrashekar Meti, M.N. Manjula, Nagalakshmi and others representing various organisations and supporting Janandolana Mahamaithri were present.
