Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) that has been in the eye of the storm over allegations of widespread corruption in recruitment and for the unholy nexus between KPSC officials and candidates, has turned its premises near the Vidhana Soudha into a fortress. Only pass holders can enter now. The new system, which came into force a couple of months ago, prevents unwarranted entry onto the premises.
The P.C. Hota Committee that looked into overhauling the KPSC had criticised the ‘free-entry’ saying it was detrimental to the confidentiality of the KPSC. It had recommended restricted entry.
The system screens visitors for their genuineness at the facilitation counter near the main gate. An identification card is a must. Visitors, including candidates, can either meet the KPSC Chairman or Secretary. Only selected visitors approved by the two are let in, after the entry pass is given at the main gate.
A private security guard escorts all visitors to the office of the official, ensuring the visitor does not make contact with other officials. The visitor has to get the entry pass marked by either the chairman or secretary, after meeting them. The marked pass is submitted at the counter when the visitor returns.
KPSC sources said none of those who visit the office for inquiries about exams and recruitment will be allowed in. Such visitors can fill up a form and these forms will be sent to concerned officials, who will reply through post or email.
