Minister for Environment Sogadu Shivanna on Wednesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party would be cleansed, if some Ministers and MLAs left it to join the Karnataka Janata Paksha, as they were responsible for the notoriety the party had gained in the last four-and-a-half years of governance.
Speaking to presspersons, he charged them with “eating in and looting the party, before deserting it”, quoting a Kannada adage ‘undoo hoda, kondoo hoda’. He wondered what these leaders would achieve by resigning from the BJP, which had given them power and respect, he asked.
Attacking KJP chief B.S. Yeddyurappa, he said this leader, who pushed for D.V. Sadananda Gowda’s appointment as Chief Minister and then removed him only to put Jagadish Shettar in his place, was not satisfied with the latter either. Still, he said the BJP would go before the people asking them to excuse the party, as it did not commit as many mistakes as other parties, who had been in power in the State.
About the ability of the BJP to face the Assembly with the threatening exodus of MLAs to the KJP, he said the party was confident of retaining its majority.
