Labour Minister P.T. Parameshwar Naik on Friday announced that the State government would take steps to upgrade all the Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) in the State.
Speaking at a meeting of State office-bearers of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee’s (KPCC) Labour Wing, the Minister said that it was essential to upgrade the government-run training institutes in tune with the technological advances in the industry.
Pointing out that there is an attitude of negligence among students about ITI courses, he said that steps would be taken to ensure that these courses too get equal prominence as other professional courses.
Assuring that he would extend the required support for the State-level convention scheduled to be organised by KPCC’s Labour Wing on June 28, the Minister said that complaints regarding delay in the release of insurance amount to victims of industrial accidents would be looked into at the earliest.
