To trace unaccounted donation collected from students by medical colleges, the Income Tax Department conducted simultaneous searches at the offices of four major educational institutions in the State — three in Bangalore and one in Gulbarga.

Among the institutions whose properties were searched are Balagangadhara Swamy Global Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Medical College and Sapthagiri Medical College in Bangalore as well as the Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society in Gulbarga. The houses of those who run these institutions as well as the premises of the Adichunchanagiri Math, which runs the BGS Global Institute of Medical Sciences, were also searched.

The Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society is headed by Shashil G. Namoshi, MLC, who was with the BJP till recently. The properties of industrialist Shivanand Mankar, managing council member of HKES, was also searched. Sources said that the…
