Officials have detected irregularities in the implementation of projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in Kalakhora Gram Panchayat limits in Basava Kalyan taluk.

Basava Kalyan Assistant Commissioner H. Prasanna Kumar has recommended filing of criminal cases against the president of the gram panchayat and suspension of two panchayat officials. According to a report submitted by Mr. Kumar to the government, the gram panchayat president, two officials and some individuals have “colluded” to forge bills.

Sources said the panchayat president and the two officials had prepared bills for digging wells without actually taking up any work. An inspection by senior officials detected seven such cases in Chikkanagaon village in the Kalakhora Gram Panchayat limits.
