IPL matches on May 4, 6 rescheduled

March 28, 2013 09:08 am | Updated 11:02 am IST - Bangalore:

The match schedule for the sixth edition of the Indian Premier League, starting on April 3, has been revised in view of the Assembly elections in Karnataka.

The May 4 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and King’s XI Punjab will now be held on May 14 and the May 6 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad will now be held on May 9 in Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Security issues

The city police had expressed their inability to provide security for the matches since Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on May 5. As maximum force deployment would be required for the elections, the police had requested the BCCI and IPL authorities to consider postponing the matches to be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
