Muslim leaders, including legislators in the State Congress, have convened an interactive session at Nalpad in Palace Grounds in Bangalore on August 28 to listen to the grievances of the community across the State and finding solutions to them.
Speaking to presspersons, Roshan Baig, MLA, and Naseer Ahmed, MLC, and office-bearers of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday said local leaders as well as religious heads from taluks, blocks and districts have been invited to the meeting.
The meeting was necessitated as many people had observed that the leaders always met in Bangalore and never went to the districts to listen to the grievances of the community, Mr. Ahmed said.
He said the discussions would be held region-wise followed by a group deliberation culminating with a statement in the evening by the senior leaders, and the same would be forwarded to KPCC president G. Parameshwara. He would also attend the Id Milan the same evening. Asked whether the community had woken up following the defeat of the Congress candidate in the Legislative Council elections Iqbal Ahmed Saradagi, he said that it was aimed at instilling confidence among Muslims and to organise them.
