The Bharatiya Janata Party lost the Assembly polls mainly owing to infighting and not because of a pro-Hindutva agenda or “moral policing” by pro-Hindutva organisations, said G. Raghava Reddy, international president, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).
Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy said considering the divide in the BJP and the infighting, one could not expect anything more than the party’s defeat. “Without these factors, the party would have won easily,” he said.
He expressed concern over Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s statement over the anti-cow slaughter Bill and said the VHP would launch an agitation to prevent the Congress from going ahead with its plan.
“The party is dependent on the minorities and wants to appease them,” he alleged.
