Independent candidate kidnapped, attacked

Independent candidate D.M. Eranna contesting from Sira Assembly constituency, was kidnapped by unidentified persons who allegedly attacked him with a knife on Thursday night.

Mr. Eranna reportedly got a call around 9.30 p.m. in which the caller asked him to come out of his house.

When he came out, five persons pushed him to a four-wheeler and sped away.

Then allegedly hit him and attacked him with a knife in the vehicle and threw him near the railway track near Nandihalli with his hands and legs tied. Passersby saw him and informed the police on Friday morning. He is receiving treatment at the district government hospital in Tumkur. A case has been is registered at the Kallambella police station.
