Police and Revenue Department officials conducted a raid on Tuesday on illegal sand storage near Kamasamudra in Bangarpet taluk and seized about hundred loads of sand as well as a truck.
Deputy Commissioner G. Sathyavathi had instructed the officials to take stern action against the sand mafia during her visit to Yergol dam project area on Monday.
Ms. Sathyavathi took strong exception to the Revenue, Police and Forest Department officials not taking action to stop illegal sand mining in the area. She also instructed that checkposts be installed at Kanamanahalli and Doddaponnandahalli to prevent sand transportation.
Following her directions, the raid was conducted.
