Illegal encroachments to be removed soon

Encroachments markedin Surpur, Wadagera

The district administration and municipal authorities have started the process of removing illegal encroachments in Surpur town and Wadagera in Shahapur taluk in Yadgir district.

Official sources said here on Monday that the marking of the encroachments which are to be demolished in the half km stretch from Gandhi Chowk to Venugopal Swamy Temple in Yadgir and in Wadegera has already begun. The demolition drive to clear the encroachment to facilitate the widening of the road would begin soon.

“A sum of Rs. 5 crore has been released under the Nagarothana Scheme to construct roads, drainages and pavements after clearing enchroachments,” Ejaj Hussain, Chief Officer of Town Municipal Council of Surpur, told The Hindu on Monday.

“In Wadagera, the proposed drive for demolishing illegal encroachments would soon be commenced,” said Ramesh Halu, Tahasildar of Shahapur. However, the government has not released any grant for taking up the construction of the roads with drainage and pavement after the completion of the demolition drive.
