The II Pre-University (PU) results, which were announced here on Thursday, spelt good news for some students who managed to get near-perfect scores, topping their respective streams.
In the science stream, three students managed to top the list with an impressive overall score of 594 out of 600. Vasudha Dinesh from Sadvidya Composite PU College, Mysore, scored 100 in Sanskrit, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology, 99 in Physics and 95 in English.
“I was writing an entrance test in Bangalore when the results were announced,” she said.
Her father, Dinesh Govindrao, a professor in the Mysore Medical College and Research Institute, said, “Vasudha’s marks were expected as she had worked hard. I was a rank-holder and she always kept that as her target. She would keep saying she’ll score better than me, and she did.”
Vasudha wishes to pursue medicine in a reputed college and aspires to become a doctor like her father, who is her role model.
Venkatesh Kamat, another topper in the science stream, is a student of Canara PU College, Mangalore. Venkatesh plans to opt for Electronics and Communication Engineering. “I’m waiting for the Common Entrance Test results. I have also done well in the JEE (Mains) examination,” he said.
Priyatosh Lokesh of Sarvodaya Pre-University College in Tumkur is the third topper in science. Priyatosh said he did not enrol for private tuition and used to study for four hours a day. Though his father, Lokesh K., a History lecturer in the Government Pre-University College, Puravara, Madhugiri taluk, wanted him to pursue civil services, Priyatosh wants to become a doctor.
Commerce and artsBangalore girl Ramya Shree K.A. topped the commerce stream, scoring 596 out of 600. A student of Vijaya College, R.V. Road, she has scored 100 in Accounts, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Studies and Sanskrit, and 96 in English. She did her schooling from R.V Girls’ High School and had secured 97 per cent in SSLC.
Her father, Ananthkumar, is a service engineer working at Jharkhand, and her mother, Gowri Ananthkumar, is a homemaker.
“I expected a decent score, but this was an unexpected surprise and I’m more than overwhelmed,” Ramya said, and added that she wants to pursue B.Com. and become a Chartered Accountant.
The topper in the arts stream was Naveen, a student of Infant Jesus PU College, Raichur.
