The II PU English examination, which was rescheduled, will be held on Thursday across the State.

The Department of Pre- University Education (DPUE), taking lessons from the Physics exam, where rumours and hoaxes had kept students and parents at their wits' end, has released an advisory. Students have been advised not to heed any rumours about question paper leak or probable questions that may appear in the exams. During Tuesday's Physics exam, SMSs were circulated claiming to contain some of the questions that would be asked in the exam.

“Students are advised not to heed to any rumours spread by unscrupulous elements through SMSs on leaked question papers or the alleged contents of the leaked questions papers. Do not pay attention to the availability of allegedly leaked papers or try and purchase them,” the Department said in a statement.

“It is the Department's responsibility to safeguard the interests of students. It may not be out of place to mention here that the leak of question papers is already under CID and CCB investigation. We request parents and students to join us to help smooth conduct of exams,” it further states.

The Department has urged students to utilise the helpline 080-23468740/23468741, which is open between 8.30 a.m. and 7 p.m.

24 debarred

Meanwhile, the number of students debarred is steadily increasing.

On Wednesday, in the exams held for Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Arabic, 24 students were debarred for indulging in malpractices. Bijapur maintained its infamous position at the top of the list with 15 such cases, while Gulbarga had five. One student each was debarred in Davanagere, Bagalkot, Gadag and Raichur.
