Iftar in Udupi Mutt: State-wide protest on July 2

June 29, 2017 03:07 pm | Updated 03:07 pm IST - HUBBALLI

Sri Ram Sene and other Hindutva organisations will hold a state-wide protest against the Iftar held at Srikrishna Mutt, Udupi, on July 2.

Sri Rama Sene’s Pramod Mutalik told reporters here on Thursday that the agitation was not against Vishwesha Tirtha Swami of Paryaya Pejawar Mutt, but against the Iftar that was held on the mutt premises. This, he claimed, had hurt the sentiments of thousands of devotees. He also condemned statements supporting the Iftar at the mutt.

Mr. Muthalik claimed that Pejawar seer’s recent statement that even Hindus consumed beef had “disgraced the Hindus.” He demanded that seer retract his statement.
