March 18, 2015 04:11 pm | Updated 04:11 pm IST - Kolar

A peaceful ‘bandh’ was observed in Chickballapur town on Wednesday demanding CBI enquiry into the mysterious death of IAS officer D.K. Ravi.

Though a number of organisations called to observe ‘bandh’ in the district, it evoked no response in many parts of the district. No untoward incidents were reported during the agitation.

Shops and business establishments were closed in Chickballapur town due to ‘bandh’.

‘Bandh’ organisers exempted schools and colleges and emergency services from the ‘bandh’. Second PU examinations continued without any hiccups.

The functionaries of various pro-Kannada, Dalit and student outfits held demonstrations at many places in the town.

AAP protest

The district unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) conducted a silent sit in protest in front of Assistant Commissioner office in Chickballapur and submitted memorandum demanding impartial CBI enquiry.

“Bold and honest officer Mr. Ravi had become the victim of corrupt system”, the AAP members said.
