I met Yogishgouda’s brother, says Kulkarni

‘But I was not involved in compromise’

Even as charges are being levelled against Minister for Mines and Geology Vinay R. Kulkarni on his alleged involvement in the murder of BJP leader Yogishgouda Goudar, Mr. Kulkarni on Saturday gave a new twist to the issue by admitting that he had met the murdered leader’s brother.

Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Kulkarni said his name was unnecessarily being dragged into the controversy to tarnish his image. He clarified that although he met Mr. Gurunathgouda, elder brother of Yogishgouda, at the residence of a noted businessman in Dharwad, he had not nothing to do with striking a compromise.

He said Dy.SP Tulajappa Sulfi, who is said to have struck a compromise deal with Mr. Gurunathgouda at an isolated spot on the outskirts of Dharwad, may be an agent of the BJP.

“I do not know any Sulfi. He might be an agent of the BJP. This is a conspiracy by the party, and I will fight it,” he said.

Refuting charges that he had threatened an advocate,Mr. Kulkarni said he had found out that advocate Anand was writing anonymous letters about him at the insistence of BJP leader Amrut Desai, and circulating it on social media. “I took him to task over phone and this has been recorded and circulated, linking it to the murder case,” he said.
