Ramya, MP, visited the Government Pre-university College for Girls off Bangalore-Mysore Highway to inaugurate the cultural programmes here on Saturday.
Ms. Ramya was overjoyed after receiving a warm welcome from the students. Instead of addressing them, the young MP expressed her willingness to interact with the girls.
The students asked her if she would stay in Mandya or “escape” like Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh from the district.
Ms. Ramya said she would rent a house in Mandya and take measures to develop the constituency.
“I will not say anything about my plans for the district. But, I have several plans and will develop the district,” she said.
Ms. Ramya said that she is inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar, Sonia Gandhi and other leaders to enter politics. She also announced that she would take measures to revive the State-owned Mysore Sugar Company Ltd. (Mysugar).
“I will continue my career in the film industry,” she told a student.
College principal S.C. Krishna was present.
