Former Chief Minister and State JD(S) State president H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday told the Legislative Assembly that he has done no wrong during his 20-month government and has no fear to face any number of cases in court.
Participating in the debate on the State Budget, he said that as Chief Minister in 2005-06, he had ordered denotification of land in Bengaluru North taluk but now has been made accused number two in the case. “I am ready to face any probe. I have no fear at all. Let anybody file 10 cases against me. I am ready to face. I have patience. I am not sitting in a glasshouse. I am on the street.”
Even when the ₹ 150 crore bribe allegation was made against him by former BJP Minister G. Janardhana Reddy, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he took a sportive stand. The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) not to arrest Mr. Kumaraswamy till June 20 in an illegal mining case.
The JD(S) leader exposed various loopholes in the State administration and demanded the government to waive crop loans borrowed by farmers owing to severe drought in 160 taluks of the State during 2016-17.
He opposed the Tourism Department’s move to sack 500 home guards appointed at various tourists places.
