Hunsur town, which witnessed trouble on Sunday during the Hanuma Jayanti celebrations, returned to normal on Monday.

While the BJP withdrew the call for bandh, shops and commercial establishments stayed open amid tight security. Buses and autorickshaws plied normally. Prohibitory orders promulgated under Section 144 were lifted on Monday evening. However, schools and colleges remained closed as the district administration had declared a holiday as a precautionary measure.

The BJP, which had called for Hunsur bundh on Monday, withdrew the call after Mysuru Lok Sabha MP Pratap Simha was released by the police on Sunday evening.

The authorities, who had cancelled the Hanuma Jayanti procession after the BJP had decided to violate the route plan finalised by the district administration, shifted the deity of Hanuman from the Town Hall back to the temple.
