As part of its initiative to create awareness about its whole range of products, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd. (KSDL) is conducting an 11-day “Soap Santhe” in Hubballi from Friday.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, KSDL Marketing Manager Srinivas Reddy and Assistant General Manager Anil Rampal said that the main objective of the event was to showcase KSDL products and also create awareness on Mysore Sandal soaps, other products and detergents that were known for quality and fair prices.

Mr. Reddy said that the company manufactured 38 products, ranging from soaps, detergents, cosmetics, agarbattis and sandalwood oil.

Owing to its best practices, it had been certified with ISO 9001:2008 certification for quality assurance and with ISO 140001:2004 for environment policy, he said.

He said that while the flagship brand, Mysore Sandal, had grown by 9 % per annum, another brand, Mysore Sandal Gold Soap, had achieved a growth of 17.5 % during 2015-16.

Mr. Reddy said that the product, Mysore Sandal Millennium Luxury Soap, launched in 2012 had become the most popular brand in the super premium soap category in the country.

To a query, he said that steps were being taken to ensure availability of these products in retail outlets and farmers are being encouraged to take up sandalwood plantation by offering them sandalwood saplings at subsidised prices.

The “Soap Santhe” will be held at the Gujarat Bhavan at Deshpande Nagar in Hubballi. It will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The formal inauguration will be at 12.30 p.m. on Friday.
