Divisional Railway Manager of Hubballi Division Arun K. Jain has said that the division was focusing more on improving passenger amenities in railway stations in the current financial year.
Chairing the 27th Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting of the division here recently, Mr. Jain, who is also the chairman of DRUCC, said that special emphasis was on provision of foot overbridges at railway stations, running special trains for the benefit of the passengers.
Highlighting the achievements of the division in the first four months of the current fiscal, Mr. Jain said that steps would be taken to address the issues raised by the consultative committee members. He also briefed the meeting about the works on passenger amenities completed and those under progress.
In the meeting attended by as many as 11 members representing different associations and organisations, various grievances were aired and several suggestions put forward.
Some of the demands include: the construction of a road overbridget at level crossing gate No.1 between Hubballi and Kusugal; provision of reservation counter at Annigeri railway station; increase frequency of train No. 16217/18 Mysuru Shiradi weekly express; provision of stoppage of train No.16536/16535 Mysuru — Solapur Golgumbaz Express at Indi Road and Tadval; provision of stoppage of train No. 17317/17318 Hubballi—Lokmanya Tilak Terminus—Hubballi at Kalyan; improvement in facilities provided at Vijaypura goods shed; streamlining the parking system at Hubballi and Dharwad railway stations, augmentation of extra coaches by Hampi Express and others.
