Mystery shrouds the death of a 28-year-old housewife, who was found hanging from the ceiling of a self-employment training centre of Vijaya Bank, here on Friday morning.

The deceased, S. Jayalakshmi, was attending the programme in tailoring and fashion designing at the Vijaya Bank Self Employment Training Institute (VIBSETI) at Karnataka Housing Board Colony on Mandya-Karasawadi Road, the police said. They said her body was found hanging in a room of the training centre.

Jayalakshmi was a native of Dodda Hosagavi near Koppa in Maddur taluk. She had planned to open a tailoring unit, police added. The body was shifted to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) for post-mortem examination.

“We are waiting for the post-mortem report to know the cause of the death,” a police officer told The Hindu.

The police have registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating.
