The Mandya police conducted anti-sabotage checks at the Mandya railway station here on Tuesday afternoon following a threat call mentioning that a bomb was placed at the station.

The telephone call, made by an unknown person to the police control room at around 1.30 p.m., caused some tense moments.

The city police rushed to the railway station with canine squad and thoroughly screened the platforms, tracks, buildings, counters, and other places. They also searched the belongings of the passengers. After the search, the police concluded that it was a hoax call.

However, train services were not disrupted. “We have registered a case and are investigating. We will arrest the miscreant soon,” a senior police officer said.

The Railway Police too took part in the search operation.
