The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has launched its official website to mark the birth anniversary of Kannada thespian Rajkumar.

Actor and Housing Minister M.H. Ambareesh launched the website on Thursday saying it was the apt occasion to do so. Recollecting his association with Dr. Rajkumar, Mr. Ambareesh said, “On his birth anniversary, I have had my rebirth and I have come back to the chamber.”

Shubhamangala Sunil, cyber security expert, whose company developed the website, said they were planning to include options to book movie tickets on the website. The domain name is www.karnatakafilm chamberofcommerce.com

Hamsalekha, veteran music director and president of Hamsalekha Desi College, who was awarded Dr. Rajkumar Award for lifetime achievement earlier this year, said the college would sponsor 200 students in memory of Dr. Rajkumar.

“I thought it will be appropriate to donate the Rs. 2 lakh that I got as part of the award as well as my own money for this venture,” he said. The college, affiliated to Karnataka State Open University, admits students who have passed or failed PU and those interested can email desihamsa@gmail.com. Mr. Hamsalekha said he would release 10 volumes on the last three decades of the Kannada film industry in June in Mysore.

Earlier, IDL Foundation, which works with the visually impaired people, released a Braille portrait of Dr. Rajkumar.
