The Hindu In School, The Hindu’s school edition, of this year was launched at the Canara CBSE School here on Monday. This is the 12th year of the edition.

Launching the edition, Joy J. Rai, Principal of the school, said newspapers help students in keeping themselves updated with the latest developments. The school edition of The Hindu makes the task easier by giving information in the way students need.

Ms. Rai said the subscription charge of Rs.450 for the student’s edition was meagre given the amount of knowledge that will be gained going through the paper. Ms. Rai said students will be allowed to scan through the student’s edition in the first 10 minutes of the first period of the day.

Hrithik Rajesh, 10th Standard student of the school, said they are encouraged to read newspapers and books in the school. Rajesh said he has been regularly participating in the activity where they are given a question related to a current issue at the end of the day and answers for which are put in a box near the Principal’s chamber the next day. “I have been participating in this activity for the last two years,” he said.

Ms. Rai said they have planned to select students participating on a regular basis in this activity and present them with publications brought out by The Hindu .

Regional General Manager of The Hindu Mangaluru G.R. Venkatesh spoke.
