A 24 x 7 helpline (control room) to attend to natural disasters in the rainy season has been launched in all the taluks of Uttara Kannada district, Deputy Commissioner S.S. Nakul has said.

The phone numbers are as follows: Deputy Commissioner’s office at Karwar 08382-229857, 221077, 9483511015, Assistant Commissioner’s office 08382-226360, Assistant Commissioner’s office at Kumta 08386-222052, Assistant Commissioner’s office at Bhatkal 08385-223722, Assistant Commissioners office at Sirsi 08384-226388, 9482678684.

Meanwhile, due to incessant rain, 35 hoses were damaged in the district and 10 head of cattle have died so far. Mr. Nakul has instructed all officials not to go on leave but take action to keep storm-water drains clean and take steps to prevent dengue and malaria.
