Taken 3

Director: Olivier Megaton

Cast: Liam Neeson, Forest Whitaker, Maggie Grace, Famke Janssen, Dougray Scott, Sam Spruell

The poster says ‘It ends here’, Liam Neeson apparently agreed to return to his role as former agent Bryan Mills for $20 million and an assurance that no one gets taken in the film.

Written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, no one gets taken in the third and final instalment of the franchise.

Instead, Mills is accused of his ex-wife Lenore’s murder. So he is on the run and uses friends and his formidable skill set to hunt the bad guys, find them, and you know what follows.

Unlike Taken which was set in France and Taken 2 which was set in Istanbul, Taken 3 is set in Los Angeles, but still has cool Euro-trash vibe.

The villain, till the climax where he fights in a white shirt and little else, is fairly formidable.

Forest Whitaker is Inspector Franck Dotzler in charge of hunting, tracking and finding Mills.

Maggie Grace returns as much-beloved daughter Kim while Famke Janssen plays Lenore. Dougray Scott is Stuart St. John, Lenore’s smarmy husband (hint, hint).

If Taken 2 felt unnecessary, Taken 3 feels rather tired.

The only fun thing was the giant panda Mills buys for his daughter’s birthday (yes, he still buying inappropriate gifts for her) singing in Punjabi!

Oye! Balle, balle to that!
