Heavy rains damage power lines in Hassan

May 04, 2015 02:21 pm | Updated 02:21 pm IST - Hassan

Residents of K.R. Puram, Housing Board Colony and other neighbouring areas in Hassan had no power supply for more than twelve hours, since Sunday evening, as power lines have been damaged due to heavy rains.

Several electric poles were reduced to ground and power cables were cut leaving the public in dark through the night. Due to uprooting and falling of trees, the roads were blocked. A car parked on the fifth cross of K.R. Puram was damaged as tree fell on it. Similarly a couple of two-wheelers parked roadside were also damaged.

Hassan City Municipal Council staff are busy clearing the roads, while CESC employees are on efforts to restore power supply on Monday morning.
