Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed Shivamogga and Bhadravathi taluks on Friday.

In Shivamogga city, rain commenced at 2 p.m. and continued till 6.30 p.m. The vehicular movement at Durgigudi and Tilak Nagar localities had come to standstill for over an hour as trees fell owing to the wind. Electricity poles too reached the ground in Sharavathi Nagar, Hosamane, Gopala Gowda Extension localities disrupting power supply. Rainwater entered more than 15 houses in low-lying areas in Venkatesh Nagar and Tunga Nagar localities owing to clogging of drainage.

The waterlogging on Savalanga Road and Balaraj Urs Road resulted in traffic snarls. Power supply was disrupted in Gandhi Nagar and Kanaka Nagar localities in Bhadravathi city owing to the damage caused by wind to electricity poles. Tirthahalli, Sagar and Hosanagar taluks also received moderate rain.

The water level in Linganamakki and Bhadra reservoirs has increased by one feet each in the past 24 hours. The water level in Linganamakki reservoir that was 1,783 feet on Thursday raised to 1,784 feet on Friday. The inflow was recorded at 4,639 cusecs. Similarly, the water level in Bhadra reservoir raised to 148 feet on Friday.
